Aundair

Aundair was one of the original Five Nations that settled in Khorvaire, and earned its present name through its first ruler, Queen Aundair, daughter of Galifar ir’Wynarn. Centuries later, the Aundairian king, Wrogar ir’Wynarn, supported the traditionally rightful succession of his sister, Mishann, to the throne of the Kingdom of Galifar. Their siblings disagreed, and the Last War began.

Prior to the war, Aundair occupied much of the northwestern portion of the continent of Khorvaire; today it occupies a finger of land between Thrane and the Eldeen Reaches. Reeling from the loss of 2/3rds of her country, Queen Aurala ir’Wynarn reluctantly signed the Treaty of Thronehold to end the war, and distrusts Karrnath’s vigorously peaceful stance. She believes strongly that were the war to begin again, Aundair would emerge victorious and she would be crowned Queen of the Kingdom of Galifar.

Aurala relies on her brother, Adal ir’Wynarn, as her warlord and minister of magic, in charge of the Arcane Congress, and her other brother, Aurad, who is her chief adviser and governor of Fairhaven. Her younger twin sisters, Wrel and Wray, study magic at Arcanix. Aurala’s consort, Sasik, is from House Vadalis, and although he has renounced any claim to the house fortune, his marriage to Aurala makes other Dragonmarked Houses nervous about the advantages Vadalis may gain within Aundair.

Aundair is home to two Dragonmarked Houses: House Lyrandar and House Orien. In addition, Aundair boasts the University of Wynarn—not as famous as Morgrave University but more highly regarded—and Arcanix, a premier school for arcane studies.
